Melaka or also known as Historical City in Malaysia has recently been listed as a prominent World Heritage Site of UNESCO. For this month of August there are a lot of activities planned for the tourist and the locals. As Melaka is rich in cultural and food; you can expect that in abundance this month.
If you are planning to visit Melaka and on a low budget, you might want to consider renting my apartment which is situated at Bukit Beruang. It is a walking distance to MMU (Multimedia Univerisity) and only 10 mins drive from the Ayer Keroh tol.
Previously my apartment was rented to the MMU students, so the room setting is of a student room; double decker bed in each room with 2 study tables and a big cupboard. There is a washing machine, fridge and a gas stove; so cooking is allowed.
So, if you are looking for Cheap Holiday Apartment in Melaka, Malaysia, please consider mine ok.
Oh ya, forgot to tell you the price. It is RM100 which is equivalent to USD30 a day. If you are interested, please call David (my hubby) at 6012-2544606.

Last night we brought MIL and the maid out for dinner. We seldom do this because most of the time she is reluctant to go out with us. Maybe she doesn’t want us to spend money on her.
The food at this restaurant is very affordable compared to other Chinese restaurant in town. It has the ambiance and the food taste very nice too.

All of us had Barley drink. Good for cooling down the body from eating heaty food.

Ordered Cheesy Chicken for my daughter since she love chicken but she doesn’t like Cheddar Cheese!

Instead we shared a plate of Black Pepper Lamb Chop and she finished all my french fries. I was surprised that my non-chilli eater girl likes Black Pepper sauce.

For the maid, we ordered Salted Fish Fried rice. She must have rice. We learned that from previous dining out with her. If you give her all chicken meal, she can’t finish it.

MIL too must have rice. She picked the “Kung Poh” Chicken.

Hubby ate his favorite; Tomyam Seafood Bee Hoon.
Total spent for all the above is around RM46 only. You say, cheap or not?
When travelling to hot climate, be sure to keep yourself cool as possible like drinking water and eat a lot of fruits but not durians please.
Eat fruits that is very high in fibre.
Lack of water can cause constipation. Food that is alien to our body might cause constipation or diarrhea. If you have history of hemorrhoids, like me, be sure to bring along Dioflex or any anti-inflammatory tablets that contains Diosmin and Hesperidin. It will help shrink the hemorrhoids very fast.
You can read all about it in my post on The Fastest Way To Shrink Hemorrhoids.
If you travel a lot or you haven’t traveled before, you may still be familiar with the term “flying standby”. Flying standby is a term the airline industry uses when a traveler wants to fly on a flight with an open seat. Travelers that usually purchase a ticket the day of will usually have to fly standby if there a limit number of tickets available.
If you find yourself flying standby in the future, there are a few tips you can follow in order to make the trip at the airport a lot easier.
Don’t check your luggage
If you’re flying standby, don’t check in your luggage. A lot of the times an airline will look for people that have carry on only. If you have checked in luggage, it’s just going to be a bigger hassle for the airliner to find your luggage and throw it on the plane. If you just bring carry on luggage, you’re going to increase your chances of getting on the flight.
Early flights work
If you can get to the airport early, you’ll find that earlier flights are usually easier to get on since many people technically don’t travel early in the morning. If you find yourself traveling in the afternoon, this is peak traveling time and you may find that the flights are going to busier compared to the mornings.
After I heard my sister bad experience with the bike rental in Bali; if I were to travel again, I will make sure I find a reliable car hire company before I make any booking. I would rather pay slightly more than being conned and scorned.
Fortunately, we can find cheap and reliable car hire company online. If you are searching for one, check out Car Hire Direct. Car Hire Direct is one of the leading UK’s independent car hire agencies, serving more than 5,000 locations in over 50 countries which includes car hire in the USA, Canada, the UK & Ireland, mainland Europe, Australia & New Zealand, Asia, Africa, Middle East, South America and the Caribbean Islands.
In order for them to offer and guarantee theirs is the cheapest car hire online; they searches up to 40 car rental companies worldwide. All you got to do is choose your destination, vehicle preference, holiday dates, add your age and their online booking form calculates the price for you.
I am sure with their professionalism, you won’t be conned.
My sisters was in Bali sometime last year. She and he friends had a very bad experience with the bike rental there.
This is what she discovered there. Some Balinese hates Malaysian. Those that are friendly are not Balinese, there are the Javanese working in Bali.
This is what happened. She and her friends hired 2 bikes. Upon returning to the bike rental, they were accused of stealing the road tax which was placed under the seat. Why would they want to steal right??? And it didn’t come across their mind to check whether the bikes are with road tax.
My sister stood aside as her boyfriend and friends try to settle the issue. No one side them, not even the hotel and their tour guide. My sister overhead them saying, “They are Malaysian, don’t give them chance.”
The bike rental owner asked for RM100! No less. They had no choice but to pay coz they are in foreign land and no one sides them, not even the policemen!
So if you plan to hire a bike in Bali, be sure to check whether the bike comes with road tax. If not, demand for it!

Last night we went for a family dinner at Handsome Seafood Restaurant to celebrate my dad’s 63rd Birthday. The restaurant is right opposite Methodist Girls School (MGS), Tengkera, Melaka. I am not sure what’s the specialty there. The cook cum owner is not handsome but has nice built with triceps. We went there coz my BIL is his friend.
Below are some of the dishes we ordered.

Thai Sytle Rojak Fried Beancurd.

Oyster Steam Fish. Doesn’t look appetizing but taste delicious, perfect for children.

Wintermelon with Chinese Herb Sou. I passed this one, dun like the smell and taste of Chinese Herbs.

Claypot Pork with Dried Chili. I made up this name coz they gave me the Chinese name, cannot remember and cannot pronounce!

Butter Prawn with Nestum. This is the best I had so far.

I prefer Gelato than the normal ice cream because it is thick and creamy. Gelato is made of milk and sugar plus other flavoring but Sorbet, minus the milk. Sorbet normally comes in fruit flavor. I tried Strawberry Sorbet at PattiFrance and never gonna pick Sorbet again. They are sour and not smooth.
Unfortunately, Gelato price is on the higher side. For 2 scoops, it cost us RM5.60. ![]()
If you plan to dine at Portuguese Settlement, do look for the Sea Terrace Restaurant, shop No. 1 from the left. If you step foot there, you will surely notice the difference; look for the most crowded shop.
The food there is cheaper and nicer than the rest. We went there to celebrate my mom’s 53rd birthday. We paid RM260++ for below dishes plus rice, which comes in 2 plates except the Sotong Fritters and Kangkong Belacan, we had 3 plates each. All of us had juices too; Apple Juice and Carrot Milk. There were 12 adults and 6 children.

Sotong Fritters; RM8.00 - A bit oily

Fried Chicken Wing - RM1.50/pc

Kangkong Belacan; RM6.00

Sweet Sour Fish; RM32.00 - Not presentable but taste nice.

Fresh Scallop with Butter Sauce; RM30 for about 40+pc

Sambal Mussels; RM8.00

Deep Fried Prawn with Black Pepper; RM20.00/plate

Cockerel; RM10.00
On our 7th Wedding Anniversary, we had our dinner at Le Garden Restaurant; Carrefour 1st Floor, Dataran Pahlawan.
They served Western, Local and Steamboat & BBQ Buffet. The Buffet is only at RM18.99++; every day from 6.30pm onwards.
Anyway, I was not in the mood for buffet so I tried their Beef Steak. My verdict, Thumbs Up!

Black Pepper Sirloin Steak; RM35.90
Hubby tried their Set Lunch at RM9.90 nett. The set lunch consist of local food, drink and dessert. Hubby tried their Curry Mee. Thumbs Up too.

Curry Mee

Dessert
For those that love desserts, this is way too little. =P

Mango and Plum Ice Blended
The waitress recommended us the above when we couldn’t decided which Ice Blended to try. I will definitely order it again when I dine there again. ![]()
