Glory Beach Resort; that was where we went for our family getaway last weekend. We wanted to go to Tiara Beach Resort but I was a day late in making the booking through Mari Mari, they need full 3 workings days before the check-in date. Cuti.com only requires 1 working day for the reservation but unfortunately, the room rate offered is RM190 instead of RM155. So I went to look for other resorts in Port Dickson offers the same rate since that was our budget.

I picked Glory Beach Resort because it has bigger children swimming pool than Bayu Beach Resort and they have a private beach too. But I regretted not reading the review posted in Cuti.com before I made my reservation!

Upon checking in, the receptionist informed me that only 2 towels will be given at the swimming pool because we are staying in a 2 rooms apartment even though the occupancy is for 3 adults. I asked whether I can request for more towels, he said “No”, it is the hotel policy. Either they are lack of towels or saving laundry cost to wash the towel. Be sure to bring along your own towels if you want to use their swimming pool. Unless you don’t mind sharing your towel with others.

Checking in on Sunday, I did not expect many people would be there but the children pool was crowded. It seems that many outsider swims there too. Yes! It is opened to public!

I was very upset with their lifeguard. I didn’t plan to swim because I am already 32 weeks into my pregnancy but hubby told me that I needed the exercise so I head to the adult pool. I didn’t wear a proper swimming attire; just a swim pants but the top, I just wore my black t-shirt because I don’t think I can fit into my swim suit anymore. I was refrained to swim by the lifeguard because he said that his directors are everywhere spying on them. I told him how come others can swim in their normal clothing but not me. He said “others” didn’t come to the adult pool but are at the children pool only. That is allowed because they have to look after their children; understood. But then arh…there is no separation between the adult pool and children pool; the water from children pool flows into the adult’s vice versa.

I requested for just one lap but he still didn’t allow me. Don’t want to waste my saliva anymore, I left feeling very disappointed because hey, I am on a holiday and I am going to pop soon; can you just let me swim for one lap? I paid so much and I only get to dip my feet in the pool.

Not even 5 minutes after I left, I saw a Malay lady swimming in the adult pool in her t-shirt and long tight pants and a group (like 6 of them) young Chinese girls swimming in their shorts and t-shirt too. I was very, very upset and really felt like going to the lifeguard and gave him a piece of my mind. Hubby knew how upset I was and returned the towels to him instead of letting me return them (I took it from him in the first place you see). If I go, he will surely get it from me.

The apartment looks spacious but only the master bedroom and the hall comes with air-cond. The study room (single bed) has no air-cond; just ceiling fan. We have no problem with that because hubby doesn’t prefer sleeping in air-cond room. The bathroom is very small and comes with 2 towels only and without the bathroom floor towel/mat. Well, I called the housekeeping for an extra towel and the floor mat; they gave. Their tea cups are stained! And the stain goes off after I washed them. This shows that they did not wash the cups properly. I refrained my children from using their glasses too.

Their private beach is VERY dirty. All this while I thought Port Dickson beaches are cleaner than the beach in Tg Bidara and Tg Puteri. My children are quite disappointed that they can’t play longer at the beach. I just allowed them 10 minutes there. Just take a look at the colour of sea water.

If you are planning to swim in PD beach, please do not stay in Glory Beach Resort. Go to Bayu Beach Resort, they have the best beach in PD.

If you bring your children along, please bring some toys for them to keep them entertained at night because there is nothing for the children there at night even though in their website they stated they have Video Arcade. We only found an abandon cargo container with the word “Video Arcade” printed on it.

The only thing that I was happy about Glory Beach Resort is that the receptionist gave us a room which is near the lift and near the swimming pool too because I showed him my bump and told him that I can’t walk too much. Other than that, the TV channels are ok; no Astro but you can get TV8 and TV9.

As for the food, I have no comment about it. For RM155, it does not come with breakfast and I was craving for the Singapore Beehoon served by Pantai Ria Restaurant, about 10km away from the hotel.

I hate coming back from a holiday feeling like upset and regretted by my choice of resort.

One Response to “Review of Glory Beach Resort, Port Dickson”

  1. In less than 30 minutes that we were gone from our 3 bedroom apt, all our cash and some valuables were gone! Someone in the hotel obviously has marked us and went in there without a trace. Someone very clever indeed. Hotel and insurance refused to take responsibility, since there are no trace left behind. How can our money magically disappear? No security camera outside of room or hallway neither. The hotel management pretty much just told us too bad and they are not going to do anything about it. So we paid RM400+ to be robbed, literally.

Hotel and pool is clean but the beach and sea was dirty. Do not stay here.
